Every Wednesday our team divides up among 3 different connect groups. My group has roughly a 35 minute uber drive to our group. It can be easy to check out and use this time as “down time” but we have been challenging ourselves to use these drives as critical pieces in our ministry in this city! The lord is really using every conversation for his glory, even if we are just planting seeds. By walking in boldness we are getting the chance to share the true gospel in a city tangled up by delusion and confusion.
The lord has been shifting my mindset to not fear gospel conversations but rather run towards them. What do I really have to loose, especially if this could be a person who has never heard about our God? Our God who is a God of love and relationship not religion and chaos.
This last drive with our Uber really touched my heart, and is worth sharing! We met a fellow believer who I could sense was feeling discouraged and very alone in his faith.
last night we were talking with our Uber driver (who speaks Spanish, which I am learning but not super confident in yet) and he asked why we were in the area, so I began to tell him that we are doing missions through the World Race and we have partnered with a local church in Floripa. When I mentioned “ministry “ he started to freak out and get really excited. He then started talking and trying to explain to us that there are many different beliefs on this island and he was wondering what we believe. I then started sharing the gospel with him (in SPANISH which is another miracle in itself .😁) He became really excited and told us that evangelicals are rare here. He told us that he believes in God and has faith, but he was still in disbelief that we were Christian, so he played one of his favorite Christian songs from a famous artist that originated from Brazil! The crazy part was when he hit play, Anna recognized the song and started freaking out because she has seen him live in Germany! This excitement led to all of us having a worship praise party in the uber! The presence of God was so strong leaving both our uber driver and my group very encouraged! It is so special to be able to worship our lord and savior with fellow brothers and sisters across every nation, tribe, and tongue!
We were able to invite this man to the church and pray for him as he battles mental heath issues. He was deeply encouraged by our faith and devotion to our Lord. As we walked away, he said, “my day was just okay, but now it is much much better.”
Praise God for this opportunity to encourage this man and get the opportunity to worship and pray with him!
